Application Timeline
Stage 1
Stage 1 is the first part of the application once you have paid your AmeriCamp fees and set up your Matchio account. You will create a profile for Camps to see, which includes:
- Profile Photo
- Program Preferences - the types of Camps you are interested in and availability dates
- Program Application - personal details and reasons for applying
- Personal Health History - a summary of your health history
- Skills - pick your top three skills you would be able to lead or support at Camp
- Work Experience - what experience you have working with children
Once your application is complete it’s time to book your AmeriCamp interview - this is a chance for us to get to know you better!
How long does Stage 1 take to complete?
This should only take about an hour or so to complete in full. Once you have submitted each section, we will review them and return them to you with feedback if any edits are required.
Stage 2
Stage 2 comes after you have passed your AmeriCamp interview and includes the final parts of the application before you can go Live to Camps on our online hiring portal:
- Pay your Stage 2 fee of £242 (amount may vary if you have used a promotion or discount code) on your payment portal
- Application Video
- References - you need at least 2
Once Stage 2 is complete, you will go Live to Camps on our online hiring portal and can start the process of being placed at Camp!
How long does Stage 2 take to complete?
This should only take 30 minutes maximum to complete, as the Application Video does not need to be too long or heavily edited. Once you have submitted each section, we will review them and return them to you with feedback if any edits are required.
You will receive an email within a few working days to confirm you are live on the hiring portal.
Why is my profile not Live to Camps?
If you have completed Stage 2 but you are not live within three working days, this is probably because we have not heard back from your references. We need at least one reference to respond before we can publish your application to Camps.
Stage 3
Stage 3 is everything beyond the application - including the other documents required, the Background Check and Medical Evaluation Form, the hiring process, and your Visa application.
How long does Stage 3 take to complete?
This is the part of the application that varies in timeframe the most.
To break this down into its key sections:
- Getting placed - there is no exact time frame. For some applicants it will happen quite quickly, and for others it takes several months.
- Background Check - for detail of time frames see our Background Checks page.
- Medical Evaluation Form - this will depend on turnaround times with your GP which can vary from a couple days to several weeks.
- Visa Application - this will vary on the applicant and time of year, but should in theory only take about a month from initial application to receiving back your passport after an embassy appointment.
What do I need to do to be ready to apply for my Visa?
In order to be ready to apply for your Visa, you need to have completed your application in full and be placed with a Camp. If you need to find out if you are Visa Ready or what you may be missing to be ready please contact the AmeriCamp team.
