No Specific Qualifications Needed
Whilst you don’t need formal qualifications for AmeriCamp, all experience counts! Camps love specialist skills like lifeguarding or climbing, but what really matters is a positive, can-do attitude. Even hobbies like sports, music, or art can make you a great fit, so highlight your skills and upload any certificates to show off your strengths.
Have qualifications? You could earn more with AmeriCamp Premium.

Do I Need Experience Working With Children?
Experience working with children is always valuable for AmeriCamp, as this will be at the centre of your role on camp - but you don’t necessarily need extensive experience teaching or working with children in order to apply!
In your application, show a desire to work with children and enthusiasm for making sure they have the best summer ever! Explaining time spent with children in your family or showing a positive attitude towards child wellbeing can be enough to demonstrate this!
Is Camp Right for Me?
Camp is an amazing opportunity, but it’s also a challenge. You’ll need energy, patience, and a willingness to throw yourself into every day. If that sounds like you, then you’ll thrive!
Here’s what to expect:
Hard work — you’ll have long days and lots of responsibility.
Big rewards — the joy of making an impact on campers’ lives.
Non-stop fun — games, activities, campfires, and adventures every day.
Friendships for life — both with campers and your fellow counsellors.
Personal growth — camp pushes you out of your comfort zone in the best way.
