What documentation will be required at the US Border?

AmeriCamp will provide a breakdown of what documents are required at the border at your AmeriCamp Orientation. A comprehensive list of all documents you should travel with can be found below:

Your in date passport with Visa printed inside
DS-2019 (Printed and signed at the Embassy)
SEVIS Receipt
Proof of return
Camp Contract
US point of contact information (Camp address and phone number)
DBS Certificate/Criminal Background Check
Medical Evaluation Form
Insurance Documentation

All of the above should be printed and in your hand luggage to present after you get off of your flight. We would always recommend having digital copies available on your phone as well.

What questions may I be asked at the US border?

The immigration officer may ask you a number of questions, but stay calm, answer honestly, and you will be fine! Here are a few examples:

Where is your Camp?
What job will you be doing?
Have you been to the US before?
When are you planning to stay in the US until?
How are you getting to your Camp?

What happens if I am denied entry at the US border?

If you are denied entry at the US border, please contact our US emergency line ASAP on +1-888-433-5594.

What happens if I am required to complete secondary questioning?

You may be selected for secondary questioning at the border. Please follow the instructions from the immigration officer, and answer any and all questions truthfully. Your phone and bag may be checked but this is standard procedure.

What is an I-94?

The I-94 is a digital record of when you enter and leave the USA. If you arrive by plane, the airline will complete this on your behalf. You can retrieve your I-94 record here.
