What is a Camp Fair?

Camp Fairs are our in-person hiring events we host across the UK for AmeriCamp participants. Camp directors will fly in from the US to hire AmeriCamp applicants in a huge range of roles, in person. This means that you could come along on the day, speak with some of our amazing Camps, and get placed on the day - securing your placement at Camp quickly and easily!

How does the Camp Fair work?

You will sign up to a Camp Fair ahead of time and we will be in touch to let you know how to get ready to be hired on the day!

On the day you will check in using your Eventbrite Ticket and head through to a large hall where Camps will be set up at individual stalls. You should speak to as many Camps as possible, and any that are a good fit for you will invite you to sit and interview. If you are lucky enough, you may receive multiple offers on the day for you to decide between!

Once you have decided on the Camp you’re going to be placed at, you will lock in your placement by checking out with our AmeriCamp team.

Can I come to a Camp Fair without paying the AmeriCamp fees?

No, you need to have paid at least your deposit of £49 in order to be eligible to be hired at a Camp Fair. If you do arrive at a Camp Fair without paying, you will be given the option to speak to a member of the team about the program and pay on the day if you would like, but you will not be permitted to speak to Camps until a minimum payment and application have been made.

Can I be hired on the day at a Camp Fair?

Yes, the whole point of a Camp Fair is to help as many applicants as possible be placed at Camp! It is a great opportunity to meet your potential employer in person and wow them with your skills and experience.

What if I don’t get hired at the Camp Fair?

No problem at all! Our hiring doesn't end with our Camp Fairs and we will work hard to get you placed through our online hiring portal.

When and where are the Camp Fairs?

The date and location of our Camp Fairs changes slightly each year, but we generally host them across the UK in October/November and January. You can check out our upcoming events on our Eventbrite page.

Are Camp Fairs mandatory? What do I do if I live too far from the Camp Fair locations to attend?

No, attending a Camp Fair is not mandatory. If attending a Camp Fair is not a viable option for you, we will work hard to get you placed through our online hiring portal.

Do I need to bring anything with me to the Camp Fair?

No, just a smile and positive attitude (and maybe a snack)! Camps will have access to your full applications through the Matchio portal and will be able to easily pull up your details. But if you are a creative person and want to show off some of your work, you can bring a portfolio of examples to present to Camps.

What should I wear to the Camp Fair?

You can wear anything you are comfortable in, as long as it is appropriate (i.e. no offensive graphics or immodest clothing). Most people just wear a comfy pair of jeans and some light layers in case it gets warm in the event space.

Can I bring a friend or family member to the Camp Fair?

You cannot bring a friend or family member who is not an AmeriCamp applicant into the main event space where the Camps are due to capacity limitations. They can come drop you off or hang out in and around the venue (depending on location) but will have to wait for you outside of the main event space.
